The North East Rivers Festival based in Derby in N.E. Tasmania grew on the back of the iconic Derby River Derby.
The Festival now offers several different events over 2 BIG weekends in October each year.
The Committee has packaged up fun family orientated events in varied parts of our Municipality. You can spectate or participate.
You can fish, golf, enjoy a wine tasting to music or get really active by being involved in a full on adventure participating in the Derby River Derby or Bridport Fun Run.
Whichever event you choose, make sure you come and have fun, raise your adrenalin levels and welcome the warmer weather with open arms.
For those of you visiting Tasmania, you may not be familiar with our iconic event the Derby River Derby. The “Derby” has been an exciting part of North East Tasmania for the last 40 years. Every year, young folk and adventuresome adults tackle the windy, rapid laden Ringarooma River vying for trophies and bragging rights. Saturday October 22 will see the small township of Derby come alive to thrills, spills and mayhem of the Derby River Derby.
This year will see the second year of the Raft, Run, Ride Event at the Derby, making use of the river and the newly developed Blue Derby Mountain Bike Trails. This event will cater for team and solo participation. From Friday October 14th through to Sunday October 23rd there will be 12 quite different Festival activities across the Dorset Municipality. The first weekend highlights the Opening Night, The Musselroe Wind Farms Fishing Competition, Rootstock – Live Music at Delamere Vineyard, Pony Club Gymkhana & the River of Life Celebration. In the middle of the weekends we have the Feast of the North East at the Bridport Bunker Club.
The second weekend brings on the excitement of spectating and participation with the Crowe Horwath Golf Challenge at Moorina Golf Course just past Derby and the Junior Fishing Day on Friday, the Harvey Norman Derby River Derby & the Aqua Property Raft Run Ride on Saturday followed by the Fonterra Bridport 10 Fun Run and the Legerwood Lane Hill Climb on the Sunday. We would like to thank our Sponsors and volunteers who are working tirelessly to make this year’s Festival the best yet.
We look forward to hosting you in the beautiful North East in October and celebrating the 40th Derby River Derby together. See you there!
